Truck Series Recap:
A hot sunny afternoon unveiled itself over Las Vegas Speedway for round 3 of the Affinity Constructions Truck Series where a packed out field of 40 Trucks quickly filled up the server once again for the 150 mile race. Michael Scurlock was all focussed in during qualifying, landing his #350 Brain Focus Training Chevy on Pole with Hamish Gallagher lining up alongside in 2nd place.
The terrific night of racing started off as intense as it ended as the leaders found it impossible to break away from the draft pack resulting in 2-3 wide racing all over the track. For the most part the top 10 was able to hang together in a pack until about 20 laps into a run when tire wear became a factor.
Lap 23 saw the first of two cautions when Brad Fenly and Michael Spithill tripped over one another trying to avoid a truck up in the fence and this quick break in race saw the field come down pit road for the first stop of the night. The second yellow flag of the night waved on lap 48 when Igor Brkic got into the back of Brent Hobbs which sent the field all back down pitlane for fresh rubber and fuel.
This set up a 50 lap run to the end which went green flag with a quarter of the field in contention for the win. Gallagher and Jaiden Russell spent time in the lead, Jason Martin, Michael Scurlock, Edward Foster, Dave Douglas, Ruben Phelps, Danny G, Ryan Jones, Steven Williams and Josh Michelmore all in the lead pack where at times you could throw a blanket over the lot of them.
A very random blown engine ended Scurlock's race after over heating on pitlane during a green flag stop and several drivers had to make pit stops for fuel as the race was running down. Most of the lead pack however continued to race between themselves until about 20 laps to go when they started to realise they needed to conserve fuel while racing to make the finish line.
Jaiden Russell unfortunately ran out of fuel while leading the race on the last lap when entering Turn 3, handing the race over to Gallagher for the second week in a row. Danny G was able to nab 2nd place at the line while Russell drifted back to 3rd in front of Foster and Williams. Race Stats:
Laps: 100
Cautions: 2
Caution Laps: 7
Lead Changes: 18
Race Results:
1st: Hamish Gallagher
2nd. Daniel Grzeszkiewicz
3rd. Jaiden Russell
4th. Edward Foster
5th. Steven Williams
Stewards Update:
The following drivers have been noted for causing an incident/s;
Igor Brkic, Lap 48
The following drivers have been penalised for start/restart infringements; N/A
Other comments:
Lap 23 caution, Trucks #20 and #69 got into one another's door trying to get around a Truck in the fence along the back stretch. Both drivers making slight movements into one another, don't believe it would have happened had they not been trying to pass Truck in the fence. No further action.
Next week the Truck Series heads to Auto Club for 80 laps!
P.S The second screenshot of the standings is for the Full Length Season, you'll be able to find this with the following link. The reason I have created a separate league is so that the drivers stats aren't included twice when uploading the same race to the ANZCAR SimRacerHub. https://www.simracerhub.com/scoring/season_schedule.php...
