4: Hamish Gallagher in a Xfinity car @ Pheonix Raceway
Round 4 of the ANZCAR Thunder series 2022 would see another big field line up for the Affinity Constructions 115 @ Pheonix Raceway.
Hamish Gallagher would start the domination straight away grabbing the pole position from Lachlan Urquijo with a lap of 27.522 vs Lachlans 27.531 lap time.
What we saw next is possibly the Thunder series longest green flag run on a short track with 52 laps green flag running till the nights first caution.
Well done all drivers involved.
Some great battling throughout the field during this run. Looking after those tires being important as always.
Some drivers can do a good job managing the long run and some not so good.
There was a tough long 8-car battle for 12 to 20 for much of this opening run with all the cars on top of each other. Great respect and racing room being shown here.
Nearly all drivers would pit at the first caution on lap 52 all grabbing tires and fuel to make it home to the end without the need for another pit stop.
A couple of quick restarts followed by a quick cautions would occur between lap 55 and 78.
This would set up a green flag run of laps 37 to finish the race.
The battles for position throughout the field happening all night would resume but up the front Hamish Gallagher couldn’t be challenged for the win leading all 115 laps of the race!
Only Dave Douglas grabbing the fastest lap of the race would stop the Hamish from winning everything in this race.
Hamish not content with winning both seasons in 2021 has taken it up another level this season with points lead of 32 after the first 4 races.
Race Results:
1st: Hamish Gallagher
2nd: Josh Michelmore
3rd: Jaiden Russell
4th: Ryan Jones
5th: Daniel Grzeszkiewicz
