Dyson powers through for the win!

Round 6 of the ANZCAR Thunder series 2022 would see the field line up for the Southern Stars 86 @ Circuit of the Americas.

Michael Scurlock would grab the pole position with a lap of 2:14.885 ahead of Jaiden Russell’s 2:15.295 lap time.

Leading out Scurlock would control the race leading until a self-spin on lap 4 saw Russell take over the lead. A relatively clean start to the race with good battles through out the field that would last most of the race.

Didn’t take much to overheat the tires and when you did it would lead to spinning out as a number of drivers would find out first hand. On lap 10 Andrew Dyson would take over the lead having driven up through the pack starting from position 23.

A lot of the drivers would cut the race in half choosing to pit at the end of lap 12 to lap 13. Through the pit stop cycle Russell would retake the lead holding onto it till lap 16 when Dyson would retake the lead after taking his pit stop.

Dyson and Dylan O’Shea would battle for the lead till the end of the race from here with Dyson prevailing. A mistake leading to an off track early on lap 22 would see Russell get passed by Michelmore for the 3rd position. Michelmore recording possibly his best result on a ANZCAR road course race.

A few drivers would have to drive extra careful about the last half of the racing as they racked up the incident points from off tracks (very easy to do at this track). 12 incident points seeing them do a drive through penalty and 17 points being a DQ from the race.

3rd: Jaiden Russell
4th: Hamish Gallagher
5th: Luke Trahair
