2022 Round 8 Trucks Results
Truck Series Recap:
The Affinity Constructions Truck Series headed to the Last Great Coliseum on Monday night for the Truck series inaugural race at Bristol Dirt. Jaiden Russell continued his impressive run of Pole Positions with another fastest lap in qualifying claiming Pole.
The race started pretty well with some lengthy green flag runs and few yellows between. The second half the race saw an increase in yellows once the track had become slick with the favourable racing line at the top of the circuit. This created some interesting restarts late in the race as drivers struggled to find grip on the inside which led them to drift up into the outside lane causing a few wrecks late in the race.
Russel was able to control the entire race from start to finish, leading every lap for the second week in a row even after getting involved in a wreck with a lapped car that took some speed out of his truck. Dave Douglas had a solid race in 2nd position much of the night while Garry Wellman, Luke Trahair and Josh Michelmore enjoyed their time inside the Top 5. Trahair and Michelmore would both find themselves in late race incidents, Trahair was able to recover for a Top 5 finish while Michelmore fell to a 15th place finish. Josh Carroll-Walden also had an up and down race, at one point a lap down but managing to race back up to finish in 5th place.
The race ended with a Green/White/Checker restart with Russell pulling away for the win over Douglas as trucks piled into one another down the back stretch
