2022 S2 Round 10 Trucks Results
Truck Series Recap:
Monday night the Affinity Constructions Truck Series headed north to Michigan Speedway. Jaiden Russell topped the speed charts in qualifying, leading the 27 drivers in the field to the green flag followed by Danny G on the outside row.
The start of the race went smoothly as drivers jockeyed around for position, eventually forming a single draft train. Brad Allison found his way into the lead early in the race but got loose in turns 1-2 which caused Russell to check up and turn right to avoid which sent Danny G straight into the back of him. All 3 drivers would be too damaged to participate for the win. This handed the lead over to Hamish Gallagher who led the field to the green flag pit stop, Edward Foster hot on his heels, Michael Scurlock, Jason Martin and Ruben Phelps all having solid runs in the top 5.
Green flag pit tops for the leaders started on lap 55 when Gallagher relinquished the lead to come down pit road, Foster came down a lap later and before long the field had pitted and continued to race green flag. Foster started to run Gallagher down on the run home but appeared to plateau out with under 10 laps to go until an incident on the back stretch threw the race into overtime.
The field pitted for the green-white-checker finish except for Aiden Schultz who stayed out and the field to green one last time. Schultz held the lead up until the exit of Turn 2 when Gallagher got back by on his fresh tires and as Schultz went to sneak in behind Gallagher down the backstretch, Jason Martin made an evasive move to the left from to stop from being stuck behind but unfortunately ran across the front of Fosters nose and was sent spinning into the inside wall, bringing out the final yellow flag and galvanizing a strong performance by Gallagher as he crossed the line with the win.
