2022 S2 Round 5 Thunder Results
Dyson drifts home with another win!!
Round 5 of the ANZCAR Thunder 2022 season 2 Thunder series would head to Road America for some more road course action. Hamish Gallagher would lead the race out from pole position with teammate Josh Michelmore beside him. Matthew Raymond and Adam Malone would make up the 2nd row.
19 Cars would take the green flag for this race.
Early on at the top of the field Gallagher would settle into leading opening a gap to Michelmore in 2nd who had Raymond battling for 3rd, Kye Turner and Malone trailing close behind for 4th and 5th.
Andrew Dyson after dropping to the very back of the pack at the start of the race started to make steady progress up through the field from lap 4 onwards.
Lap 12 would see cars starting to pit to get fresh tires and fuel to make it the race distance of 25 laps.
Raymond would use the undercut to take over the lead from Gallagher as he came out of the pits on lap 15.
Both would battle it out for the next 3 laps until Dyson would make the pass on Gallagher on lap 20.
Dyson would take over the lead on lap 21 and running away with the victory.
The battle for 6th 7th and 8th would be fiercely contested over the last few laps with Ruben Phelps (6th) Billy Hickey (7th) and Brad Fenly (8th) finishing the race withing .350 of a second between them and well done for Adam Malone bringing it home in 5th place.
Another solid run for Brad Fenly who has just quietly worked his way up into the top 3 for season points. Great stuff!!

Incidents:
Protest car 080 on car 41 dismissed. Protest was for contact causing caution.
Car 080 ran a blocking line and received a light bump and run and due to being a road course no caution was triggered
