2022 Series 3 Round 11 Trucks Results
Truck Series Recap:
On Monday night the Affinity Constructions Truck Series raced @ Iowa Speedway for the second last event of the 2022 calendar season. 20 odd truckers showed up for the race with Andrew Dyson claiming Pole Position over Ruben Phelps in second.
The green flag flew and the field was off with some close quarter racing up front. Ryan Jones and Dyson battled away out front while the rest of the top 10 filed in close behind and drivers at the back enjoyed having their own battles.
The laps ticked by until the first yellow flag waved which saw the field pit for fresh rubber and fuel. Jaiden Russell who had started from the rear of the field soon came through that field into contention but his day would finish early with a mishap in turn 1 where he was sent up into the outside fence.
The laps continued to tick by for a lengthy green flag run in which Dyson and Josh Michelmore paced the field.
Drivers started to think about green flag pit stops at around lap 80, a few came in earlier. Jason Martin cost himself some ground missing pit lane and Michelmore ended up with rear damage when he was collected trying to enter pit lane. The races second and final yellow would fly soon after with a spin on the backstretch, keeping those that pitted a lap down to those who hadn’t.
Wave arounds were taken and the race back under way, Dyson came racing back through the field and on the final lap had a shot to take the lead by putting his nose on the inside of Mark Smith who'd been racing well out front for 48 laps. The two made contact in turn 1 which sent Smith spinning up the track and into the wall, Dyson was able to continue home to the checkered flag and with no protests lodged to race control, took home his second win in a row.
