2022 Series 3 Round 8 Trucks Results
Truck Series Recap:
On Monday night the Affinity Contractions Truck Series headed to Talladega Superspeedway for round 8 of season 3. Leading the field of 33 drivers for the 80 lap even was Tom Pritchard who sat on Pole and Dave Douglas leading the outside row in 2nd.
The race started out fairly steady as drivers settled into position. A front pack led a small single file group of drivers who led the second pack early in the running as Pritchard and Douglas were leading laps out front with the field all trailing with the lead draft.
The pack would split up when a spin occurred exiting turn 2 on lap 17 which sent a couple of driving spinning into the infield but no yellow flag waved and those who got through the wreck were now falling seconds behind the lead pack.
Pit stops started on lap 30 with the 2nd pack getting together to try and help run the lead pack down which was now over 10 seconds in front. They ran nose to tail for 30 laps, led by Matty Raymond, when they finally caught the tail end of the lead draft, only a lap away from the second round of pit stops.
Josh Michelmore and Danny G came off pit road with the lead but were quickly rounded up by Matty Raymond who was up to speed after his pit stop. Danny G managed to get into the draft and race his way up to 2nd on the high side now racing Raymond for the lead. The two battled side by side, lap after lap each taking turns leading the next lap. As they approached the checkered flag, Raymond edged out in front as the two banged each other coming to the line with Raymond taking the win as the field wrecked behind!!
