2022 Season 3 Round 9 Trucks Results
Truck Series Recap:
On Monday night, the Affinity Constructions Truck series headed to Homestead Speedway for round 9 of season 3 and the 2nd last event on the full series Schedule. Hamish Gallagher took out Pole over Jason Martin in the 27 truck Grid.
Gallagher led the field through the first lap as drivers settled into position and the racing was clean throughout the first half of the race until a yellow flag waved on lap 49 of the 100 lap event. This caught a few drivers off guard as they had only recently pitted, but it also did create some drama and strategy towards the end of the race. The leaders all pitted and continued on when the green flag waved again, Ryan Jones took on some fuel a lap before the restart in hopes he could finish the race off while others pitted for fuel again. Several other drivers tried their luck also with the fuel saving.
The top 6 was having none of that though, led by Gallagher, Jaiden Russell, Edward Foster, Jason Martin, Josh Michelmore and Danny G who all put their foot down fully aware they would have to make another stop and the pit lane became busy once again with around 25 laps to go. Gallagher and Danny G were the first to pit, while Foster, Martin and Michelmore coming in 1 to 2 laps later.
The leaders once again put their foot down and started to knock off drivers attempting to save fuel one by one before finally reaching Ryan Jones with 10-15 laps remaining. Gallagher continued out front but was being run down fast by Foster who gave Gallagher a fright on the final lap as the two crossed the line less than a tenth of a second apart. Michelmore would finish in 3rd, Danny G in 4th, Martin in 5th and Jones managed to cross the line in 6th place.
