2023 Round 6 Cup Results
Rosella takes the chequer at COTA!
Seeing stock cars turning right is always a little awkward in the way it meets the eye. It is a more familiar sight nowadays than in eras past, and the current NextGen Cup car looks far more at home on twisting tarmac than any of its predecessors.
Luke Rosella would take pole from Dyson, with Pearson and O'Shea sharing row two. Rosella would get away well however Dyson and O'Shea would make contact in turn one, spinning the 41 out but causing no damage.
As the field snaked through COTAs bends most of the attention would be on Dyson's recovery drive as he cut back through the field, however there was also some intense battling going on for the lower positions.
There were of course the odd spinners, Nankervis went for a twirl at the final turn, while Urquijo and Tomlin would make contact, spinning the 42 around. One would imagine that Luke Trahair may have been keeping a wary eye on his mirrors had he known his number was next in the spin sequence!
Speaking of the 43, he would engage in an entertaining duel with Joshua Carroll-Walden that would eventually resolve in his favour. Without wanting to undersell it, that was pretty much it.
Rosella would win untroubled from start to finish, while Dyson would recover to second. Pearson, Lobb and Hetterscheid would round out the top five.
Not quite a repeat of the barnstormer Thunder race of the previous day, but one would assume Rosella at least would not mind one bit.
Join us again for the left turns of Richmond next week!
