2023 Series 1 Round 6 Truck Results
Truck Series Recap:
Bristol Motor Speedway - Dirt would host Monday nights ANZCAR Truck Series race, the halfway point of Season 1. Twenty Two mud slingers showed up for some heat racing and a 100 lap feature. Darren Mckenzie would win heat 1 over Michael Scurlock, and in heat 2, Christopher Tomlin would race away to win over Josh Michelmore.
With the feature grid set and the green flag out the field raced away into turn 1 side by side. Mckenzie would squeeze up into the lead early as mid pack were all over the place 3 wide. Jaiden Russell who started the race in the back came charging through the pack early and was in 8th place at the races first caution on lap 5.
The next run would go for a solid 40 laps before caution 2 was seen, in those laps Russell had firmly driven his way into the lead, lapping two thirds of the field in the process. Garry Wellman continued to have a strong day in 2nd place, Michelmore and Mckenzie rounded out the top 5 with Chris Finlay involved in a wreck while running in 3rd.
A big wreck on lap 65 left several trucks banged up on the inside wall as the race track blocked with nowhere to go and this would be the 4th and final caution of the night. Russell was well in control to the end of the race with Michelmore, Wellman, Kye Turner and Wesley Clohesy filling out the top 5 with good results.
Again, big shout out to Chequrered Flag E-Streaming, the boys do a wonderful job bringing the ANZCAR Truck Series to life through their broadcasts and spreads or following far and wide, so thank you, you can check lasts night stream out right here!
