2023 Series 1 Round 8 Truck Results
Truck Series Recap:
On Monday night the ANZCAR Truck Series took on Kansas Speedway for round 8 of the season. Hamish Gallagher and Daniel Grzeszkiewicz took out the front row in qualifying followed by Jason Martin and Jaie Schultz in row 2.
The green flag waved and 36 Truckers went roaring into action. The race for the lead was hard fought for in the beginning with Gallagher clipping the outside wall and falling away from the lead pack.
Ryan Jones made a strong start driving his way from 9th into the lead at the time of the first caution on lap 17. Jason Martin would restart the race and lead through to lap 34 when the second caution of the night flew.
The next segment of racing would be led by Jason Martin and Danny G who managed to break away from the pack after a 30 lap run until caution three of the night on lap 70. From here cautions would fall every several laps which mixed up some pit strategy late in the race.
On the final restart of the night which happened to be a green, white, checker, Brett Campbell who had controlled the later laps of the race started alongside Sam Smith for the final shootout. Smith got caught up in a race with Jones and fell back to 3rd place while Jones sped on and pressured Campbell for the lead.
As the pair exited turn 4 it was Campbell with the advantage, taking home his first ANZCAR win of 2023!!
