2023 Series 2 Round 3 Truck Results
Truck Series Recap:
Monday night held round 3 of the ANZCAR Truck Series, this time hosted at the tricky Pocono triangle. Jason Martin posted the fastest lap and would start from Pole alongside Ryan Jones who continued his impressive speed streak starting from 2nd.
The green flag dropped and the filed of 29 set off for the 70 lap race. The field made it through the start of the race cleanly despite some close three and sometimes four wide racing in the pack until things settled out. Jason Martin and Ryan Jones continued out front of the pack with Andrew Dyson and Norman Clark. On lap 11 the first caution fell with a 3 wide wreck into turn 3. Another 3 wide incident in turn 2 would slow the next restart down and another incident on lap 22 at the exit of turn 1, but from there it was clear sailing to the finish line.
Martin, Michelmore, Jones, A. Schultz and Dyson filed out into the top 5 on the lap 26 restart. Schultz fell out of the top 5 about 5 laps later as Dave Douglas took his position and started to make a good charge toward the leaders. Green flag pit stops started happening around lap 45 and Dave Douglas had cycled through as the race leader by the end of them 10 laps later with Martin right on his tail and it looked like the two would have to duel to the finish.
Andrew Dyson had other plans however, making a later pit stop work with fresher tires, driving through the top 5 and to the lead on lap 61. From there he would cruise away into the sunset for the win while Douglas and Martin battled over 2nd place with Douglas getting the job done there. Jones and Chris Finlay would round out the top 5.
