2023 Series 3 Round 6 Truck Results
Race Winner Ryan Jones
Truck Series Recap:
On Monday night the ANZCAR Truck Series rolled in Kentucky Speedway for a 100 lap race in Round 5. Ryan Jones posted the fastest lap in Qualy edging out Jason Martin in 2nd who secured the front row out of 17 entries.
The green flag flew and Jones and Martin battled for lead before Martin was able to grab it on the 2nd lap before being shuffled back through the top 5 and in an exciting start to the race, Karl Withey was through to the lead on lap 5. On lap 15 Withey had driven out to a 1 second lead over Jones and Josh Michelmore as the field started to settle down with Christopher Ireland and Jack Barrett rounding out the top 5.
Michelmore took the lead of the race on lap 22 and brought Jones along with him and the two engaged in a good battle, Ireland had driven up into the 3rd and Ruben Phelps along with Martin had driven up into the top 5.
The first caution of the night flew on lap 41 with a wreck on the front stretch. Jones took the green on the lap 48 restart with Garry Wellman now in second and Martin on the move back up into 3rd. Wellman made a big move to the outside of Jones taking the lead on lap 50 before Martin dove into Turn 1 to take the lead the next lap.
Martin surrendered the lead on lap 77 to take fuel and tires as the rest of the field had slowed up somewhat to try and make it the rest of the way on distance, Wellman was now out in the lead with 20 to go with a 6 second lead. A caution with 18 to go mixed everything up as everybody was able to hit pit road for fuel and run hard until the end, Wellman led the field to green with 13 to go.
Koby Jordan, Michelmore and Jones made it 3 wide down the front stretch for 2nd with 11 to go which helped Wellman pull a bit of a lead on the rest of the field but the gap shrunk shortly after as Michelmore fought his way into 2nd and then pressed onto the back of the lead on lap 92. Michelmore dove to the inside to take the lead as Jones moved into 2nd with 5 to go. Coming to the line with 1 to go in Turn 3, Jones pulled a remarkable inside move on Michelmore to take the lead and drove off turn 4 to secure the victory!

Lap 83 caution, #127 & #22 - netcode, was a small gap before vehicles morphed into one another, believe it would have been fine before netcode turn into one another. No further action.
