Gen6 Series Recap:

Tonight the Gen6 cars took on Atlanta Speedway in it's old formation for round 2 of the Lightning Series Round. Jason Martin ran a tenth faster than Barry Neale in qualifying and the two would enjoy a front row start for nights 130 lap race. 

Martin led the field at the drop of the green with Neale trailing just behind as the field settled into single file before some racing in the back around lap 5. Neale was able to challenge for the lead on lap 10 but Martin kept closing the door. Edward Foster and Garry Wellman sat just behind the leaders as they pulled away from the rest of the pack. 

Foster took the lead on lap 25 of the race as Martin fell back through the field a bit into 4th place. He was back on the move 15 laps later however driving back up into 2nd place while Josh Michelmore and Ryan jones entered the battle for 2nd as Foster ran away with the lead. Jones and Michelmore quickly dispatched Martin and Neale and the two took off for 2nd place Wellman by the 50 lap mark. Pit stops were done by the halfway mark with Foster taking a crack at a two stop strategy while others stayed out for a one stop strategy. 

The two stop strategy of Fosters was the one to beat though as the race cycled through green flag without stopping. Foster pitted soon after the leaders for his second stop and used his fresh tires to skip out to an 8 second lead by the time he took the chequered flag!
