Gen6 Series Recap:

Last night the ANZCAR Lightning Series moved onto race 3 and the halfway mark of season 2 with a 100 lap race around Auto Club Speedway. 27 entries filled the grid led by Jason Martin and Andrew Dyson. 

Some 3 wide racing all over the track got the race off to a hot start. The track was hot and the field had to race around and find the fast line before the first caution fell on lap 17. The second yellow fell shortly after on lap 24. Aiden Schultz would restart the race on lap 28 from the lead when a big wreck on lap 29 collected half the field. A couple yellows fell in quick concession. The next restart. In first place, Roger Clark. In second.. what's happened? It's Foster! Another wreck occurred collecting another several cars. Yellow flew on lap 49. 

With the field thinned out the second half of the race started a lot cleaner with Schultz leading up until lap 65 before Josh Michelmore dove into the lead. A cycle of green flag pit stops split the field up completely as Karl Withey made a long run on fuel but ultimately fell short by 7 laps and had to pit giving the lead back to Michelmore as he and Jason Martin went toe to toe for the final 5 laps. Martin held the lead heading into Turn 1 on the final lap but Michelmore with the momentum down the back stretch helped him come home with the win!
