2024 ANZCAR Lightning Series Gen 6 Race 4 Texas
Gen6 Series Recap:
Round 4 of the ANZCAR Lightning Round Series hit the banks of Texas - Legacy for tonight's race. Dave Douglas edged out Barry Neale in qualifying to lead the nights 200 mile race.
Douglas shot out to a good lead once the green flag dropped with Neale tucking in behind and the field stretched out in the early going. Joshua Carroll-Walden had fought his way up into 3rd with Troy Davidson and Christopher Ireland marked in the top 5 after 10 laps. The next 30 odd laps would put on a great show with 3rd-12th double file almost the whole way and the lead swapping a couple of times as well. Andrew Dyson powered into the lead on lap 43 at about the time the first green flag pit stops started occurring.
After green flag pit stops the race settled down somewhat. Dyson was one of the last drivers to hit pit road roughly around the half way mark and would try for a one stop strategy while Jason Martin drove out into the lead on a two stop strategy. The nights first caution fell on lap 95 with a wreck on the backstretch and the field would bunch back together for the final 30 laps with Dyson leading Ireland.
Dyson managed to control the race from here holding off Neale for 26 laps and then Martin for the final 4. Neale, Michelmore and Ireland would round out the top 5!
