2024 ANZCAR Lightning Series Modifieds Race 3
Modified Series Recap: 26th Feb 2024
Modified Series Recap:
On Monday night the Lightning Rounds Modified series hit New Hampshire Speedway for the midway mark of the series. The biggest field this year lined up for the event led by Garry Wellman who'd start from Pole for the 60 lap event alongside Edward Foster.
Foster was able to take the lead at the back end of the first lap bringing Dave Douglas along with him as Wellman drifted back a bit at the start, though the 3 pulled a pretty decent gap on the rest of the field. The first yellow of the night fell on lap 6 with a single car spin.
The field restarted closer together this time with Foster still out front and Dyson following who'd take the lead a lap later. After another quick yellow the race would really tighten up especially mid pack where 3 and 4 wide racing were a common theme lap after lap involving most of the field.
On lap 20 Douglas made a move for the lead and started to pull away considerably. Although the race was slowed down a touch at the back end due to yellows, Douglas maintained his spot up front, virtually untouchable as he cross the line with another victory! Riley Curtis finished up in 2nd place, Foster 3rd, Dyson 4th and Todd Maxfield raced from 16th to finish in 5th place.
