2022 Round 8 Trucks Results
Truck Series Recap:
What had been quite a calm and collected start to the 2022 Affinity Constructions Truck Series erupted on Monday night as the fellas took to one of the shorter ovals on the schedule, Martinsville Speedway, famous in ANZCAR for its long history of aggressive nature and understandably bringing out the best in all driver participating.
Jaiden Russell picked up right where he left off last week, back on top of the speed charts putting himself on Pole alongside Jason Martin. The race appeared to start off nicely with the leaders getting away cleanly and the field easing their way through the first few laps before the days first caution flag with a small wreck in Turn 1.
The top 10 seemed to be the safest place to be throughout the night except for a few small hiccups. Josh Michelmore got caught up in a wreck on the front stretch, Ryan Jones was sent around exiting Turn 4. After half way Wesley Clohesy got loose off of Turn 2 unfortunately hitting the inside wall and back up in front of the leaders. Jason Martin who was running 4th at the time getting the worst of the situation, falling well outside of the top 10 with damage.
Back up front, Jaiden Russell didn't look like relinquishing the lead, keeping his truck clean and out in front. Luke Trahair was also having a strong consistent day up inside the top 3, Hamish Gallagher right up there with them. Michael Scurlock, Matty Raymond, Josh Carroll-Walden, Edward Foster and Daniel Hetterscheid were also having very consistent races, remaining up inside the top 5 &10.
The race to end the was one of the loner green flag runs on the day, but a caution flag with 2 laps to go threw the race into overtime. Jaiden Russell as he had done so all night raced the field into Turn 1 and never looked like being beat, leading all 130 laps on his way to victory!
