2022 S2 Round 1 Trucks Results
Truck Series Recap:
Season 2 of the Affinity Constructions Truck Series rebounded on Monday night with a 100 lap race around Kansas Speedway.
Picking up right from where he left off in Season 1, reigning series champion Hamish Gallagher landed his truck on Pole with Jaiden Russell alongside in 2nd.
Once the green flag dropped, the top 5 were able to drive away from the field quite significantly as the majority of the field looked to be fuel saving from the get go. That strategy went out the window after 15 laps when we saw the races first caution period. All drivers made their way down pit road which gave the race a 1 stop strategy.
The second yellow flag flew only a few laps later, but that would be it for the rest of the race in terms of stoppages. Edward Foster was able to grab the lead during the first pit stop and held that lead throughout much of the remainder of the race, fighting off Jaiden Russell, Hamish and Danny G. Dave Douglas was one of the first of the lead lap trucks to pit during the lengthy green flag run to the end and was able to lead some laps as the undercut proved to give him some speed advantage.
Foster hit pit road a few laps later, Danny G a lap after Foster and Gallagher and Russell a lap later still. Foster charged back into a second lead after passing Douglas and a few laps later Danny G was into 2nd position.
The two battled hard as the race wound down, side by side for a few laps until Danny G was able to find some grip on the inside and make the pass for the lead with 9 laps to go. He began pulling away from Foster while Gallagher and Russell closed in for 2nd place. On the final lap Gallagher threw his truck into Turn 3 hard but was unable to make the pass for second place stick and he ended up in the wall coming off of turn 4.
Danny G crossed the line for the win followed by Foster, Russell, Gallagher and Mr. Douglas rounding out the top 5.
