2022 Series 3 Round 2 Trucks Results
Truck Series Recap:
Last night the Affinity Constructions Truck Series took to Richmond Raceway for round 2 of season 3. Hamish Gallagher would take the Pole alongside Jaiden Russell for the 110 lap event and lead the field of 22 drivers to the green flag.
Gallagher held onto the lead for the first few laps until Russell was able to get by and the field lap by lap sorted themselves out into a decent green flag run. The top 10 had broken away by lap 15 with a lot of single file race as Russell, Gallagher, Jason Martin, Lachlan Urquijo and Josh Michelmore ran inside the top 5.
Green flag pit stops started to take place around the half way mark with drivers outside the top 10 coming down to take on new tires and fuel, the top 10 coming in a few laps after while the leaders left it the latest. A caution on the front stretch which took Jason Martin out of the race brought an end to the green flag pit stops leaving some drivers on the lead lap and others trapped a lap or more down.
Edward Foster gained the upper hand during all this and ended up taking the green flag for the restart. The field was spread out somewhat due to lapped traffic in the field with 1 to go before green and those drivers weren't able to get back up to the front and contend for the win, Hamish Gallagher made the most ground, restarting outside the top ten to drive back into the top 5.
Foster managed the race well from there, driving the last 40 laps with the lead to take the win over Josh Michelmore. Good finishes also for Ruben Phelps and Norman Clark who raced around the top 10 for a lot of the race but came home with Top 5's!
Race Stats:
Laps: 110
Cautions: 1
Caution Laps: 5
Lead Changes: 2
1. Edward Foster
2. Josh Michelmore

Stewards Update:
The following drivers have been noted for causing an incident/s;
Lachlan Urquijo, Lap 63
The following drivers have been penalised for start/restart infringements;
Nathanial CT Jackson, Lap 76, Failed to catch pace car.
New drivers, even if a lap down and trying to sort yourself out in the field with one to go, have to make every effort to try and catch the back of the line, even if you have to pull off onto the apron in Turns 3/4 and let every one pass then, but we need the field as close to the pace car as possible for the restart.
Next week the Truck Series heads to the Milwaukee Mile for 100 laps! Now since there's no setup for the track we will be running the New Hampshire Open setup.
