2023 Series 2 Round 4 Truck Results
Truck Series Recap:
On Monday night the ANZCAR Truck Series held round 4 of Season 2 at Richmond Raceway. A field of 26 trucks would start the race, led by Andrew Dyson out in Pole and Ryan Jones starting on the outside in second.
Dyson and Jones jumped out into the lead at the drop of the green bringing Jackson Callow with them as the field slotted into single file over the first few laps. Jones found the lead on lap 10 as Dyson fell back into 4th place behind Jaie Schultz who drive hard in the top 5 and would finally emerge with the lead on lap 28. Dyson started to pick up the pace at about this time too and on lap 42 was able to make a move back into the lead heading into Turn 1.
Pit strategy varied throughout the field as the green flag run continued, some drives elected to hit pit road as early as lap 40 and others as late as lap 70. This provided a big mix up in the field as drivers who pitted late started making their runs back through the field. The race seemed poised to finish with the one green flag run with Dyson leading the way to the end but the caution fell on lap 112,3 laps from the finish.
The green, white, checker restart did not disappoint with Garry Wellman and Aiden Schultz trying their luck on old tires. Dyson and Jones lined up 3rd and 4th and the two quickly rounded themselves back into the lead.
On the last lap turn 4, Jones made a huge attempt to get underneath Dyson to bring home the win, but the two would end up in the outside fence with Josh Michelmore scooting on past them down the short straight away to take the victory!
