2023 Season 3 Round 8 Thunder Results

Race Winner Matthew Raymond

Thunder Series Review

12 cars turned out for the Charlotte Roval, the last race for the Road Course Title. Jason Marin would start from pole position ahead of Josh Michelmore, Barry Neale and Norman Clark.

Martin would hold the lead from the start, whilst some drivers experienced some early trouble with spins and damage being picked up. The SRM teammates of Ruben Phelps and Matthew Raymond were the fast chargers through the field after starting towards the rear, up into the podium positions after a dozen or so laps.

Raymond would take over the lead from Martin on lap 17, with Phelps dropping down a further spot just a lap later on. Martin would stop the following lap to bolt on four fresh tyres, but would need to serve a drive through penalty for crossing the blend line on pit exit. Martin would be the only driver to stop for tyres, with the rest of the field going the distance on their starting tyres.

Raymond and Phelps would have a great battle out front, with Raymond hanging on for the win, Phelps in second, followed by Michelmore, Martin and Clark.
