2022 Round Trucks Results
Truck Series Recap:
Auto Club Speedway opened the tunnels last night to host round 4 of the Affinity Constructions Truck Series, fielding 37 trucks all up and led to the green by Kye Turner in the #408 MAD-AZ Designs Chevy Silverado. Lining up beside him in 2nd place, Jaiden Russell in the #28 JK Signs Chevy Silverado, both drivers actually recording a lap time of 41.321 seconds.
The field cautiously opened the race by spreading out, mostly single file with Turner and Russell maintaining the top 2 spots, Danny G and Igor Brkic made contact on lap 5 which brought out the first of 4 cautions in the race.
Turner led the field again during the restart on lap 9, holding the lead for 9 laps before Hamish Gallagher put his nose to the inside coming down the front stretch and taking the lead on lap 17. However a few laps later, Jason Martin was able to take the lead and on lap 20 a bump draft by Gallagher turned Martin into Josh Michelmore down the backstretch, taking Martin out of the running and injuring both Gallagher and Michelmore.
Michelmore would lead the field to green this time, but Turner and Russell were determined to put themselves back out in front of the field and a lap later Turner was able to push past Michelmore in turn 3 bringing Michael Scurlock and Jaiden Russell with him. Russell slightly collected the wall off turn 4 on lap 46 while in the lead of the race which slowed both himself and Turner up just enough for Michelmore to fly back into the lead, moments before the 3rd caution of the night waved when Dave Douglas and Glenn McLeod came together off of Turn 4.
The 4th caution of the night came out on lap 51 when Christopher Finlay got loose in turns 3-4, sending him spinning down the front stretch.
The final 25 laps of the race would run green and be played out by a number of drivers in the top 10. Michelmore would lead, Russell, Scurlock and Turner, Luke Trahair, Raymond Jaeger, Ruben Phelps, Paul Jackson, Matty Raymond and Troy Davidson would round out the lead draft pack. Turner was able to pinch the top spot from Michelmore once again on lap 62 but 5 laps later Russell was back in the lead and went on to pull away to take the race victory over Scurlock and Raymond!
