2022 Round Cup Results
Hobson notches another one on the dirt of Bristol!
Rapidly fading light greeted the drivers as they lined up for the second dirt race in ANZCAR Cup history, and the first to be held under lights. Jaiden Russell would share the front row with Michael Scurlock as the field rolled to green.
Russell would jump out to an early lead with Scurlcok coming under pressure from Brenton Hobson. This battle would be settled in Hobson's favour as Scurlock would spin on lap 14, bringing out the first caution of the night. Russell would resume from the lead on the resulting restart, with Dyson and Michelmore doing their best to pressure the Synergy duo up front.
The race would continue to run in mainly ten lap bursts, as the track began to wear under the constant tearing from the 26 cars pounding through the dirt.
A change for the lead would finally come on lap 52, with Hobson making use of the high groove to move to the front. On lap 76 would come the biggest wreck of the night which strangely also failed to produce a caution, with Russell spinning on the back stretch and collecting Button, both Schultz's and Paterson.
Hosbon would weather the storm and come home first, with Dylan O'Shea and Dave Douglas taking second and third after flying under the radar much of the night.
Join us again next week when we head to Talladega for our traditional ANZAC race.
