Double D's on show in Pheonix and Gallagher Wraps up back to back Championships!!
Double D’s on show in Pheonix!!
And Gallagher wraps up another championship.
The 12th and final race of Anzcar Thunder season 2 would head to the newly updated Pheonix for 112 laps.
Hamish Gallagher would grab the pole position narrowly beating Joshua Carroll-Walden and Edward Foster 2nd and 3rd respectively. Top 22 cars covered by less than a second’s lap time.
Restarts and restart zone were a bit tricky to work out, but a good job was done all night by all drivers.
The race would see an early caution with a race restart on lap 6 followed by another quick caution at lap 15. A few drivers rolling the dice a bit and grabbing some fresh tires.
The race would restart on lap 20 would see the night’s longest green flag run till lap 56.
All the leading cars would come to the pits for fresh tires and fuel to the end of the race. Dave Douglas pit crew deserves a nice big bonus here as his pit stop was quick enough to allow him to take the lead exiting pit road.
This would turn out to be a race winning stop in the end as Dave was able to hold the lead for the rest of the race controlling the restarts well as from here it became a bit of a caution feast unfortunately as the aggression levels went right up.
Hamish Gallagher would come home in 3rd place to seal a 2nd in a row Xfinity championship by 18 points to Edward Foster. Matthew Raymond taking 3rd in the championship, Dave Douglas 4th and Josh Michelmore 5th.
I do like my numbers and stats and find it interesting that numbers wise they were almost identical seasons for Gallagher.
Season 1 saw 2 wins, 8 top 5, 10 top 10, 15 bonus points for a total of 417 points.
Season 2 saw 2 wins, 8 top 5, 10 top 10, 12 bonus points for a total of 419 points.

Well, that’s it for this season and in fact for the year with Xfinity racing.
I will be posting up a bit of a year review soon and confirming more in-depth information about 2022 but it will see 3 X seasons of 11 races with 2 drop rounds in the first 9 races of each season.
The schedule will match the real-life Xfinity series with 33 races in total but with a few extra breaks in place and a couple of track changes like Indy oval instead of the road course.
I am also looking at a concurrent full year season that just pieces all the 3 X 11 race seasons together with the same amount of drop rounds. But will need more work to work this out correctly.
Hope you all enjoyed the season and we will see you for more Xfinity racing in 2022.
