Truck Series Recap:
A short turn around from the Daytona 500 saw the Affinity Constructions Truck Series head 300 miles south to Homestead Florida for race 2 of the season. 35 entries would take to the grid, Mitch Motorsports locking out the front row with Hamish Gallagher and Josh Michelmore lining up One/Two.
The field took the green flag for a handful of laps before Ruben Phelps got loose off turn 4, putting Mick Taylor up and into the catch fence. Dave Douglas took a brief lead after not pitting with the leaders and moments after the restart Jaiden Russell was sideways off turn 4 bringing the 2nd caution of the night out as trucks wrecked down the front stretch.
Douglas pulled away into the lead on the restart and managed to lead for a handful of laps before Gallagher on new tires came storming back into the lead. The race would run the next 35 laps under green with Gallagher, Michelmore, Dylan O'Shea, Michael Scurlock and Luke Trahair filling out the top 5. The 3rd yellow flag of the night came out on lap 51 when Ryan Jones sent himself around on the exit of turn 2.
Kye Turner was next to fall victim to a loose truck off turn 4 and triggered the final caution of the night on lap 58, the wreck continuing on down the front stretch involving several drivers.
A mistake by the race leader Jamie Budd on the lap 63 restart checked the bottom row up where multiple trucks accordioned into one another, the drivers kept patient however and managed to get away cleanly, Jason Martin and Paul Jackson pulled out a lead but it wasn't long before Gallagher found his way back to the front and to the checkered flag by 5 seconds over Dylan O'Shea!
